Sometimes, it is hard for me to believe that I have been your cantor for ten years. The time has really flown by, which I guess reflects the fact that I enjoy my work as well as the people that I work with. I deeply cherish the many friends that I have made over the years and look forward to serving Temple Israel to the best of my ability for many years to come.
I would like to thank everyone who expressed such beautiful sentiments in this years Annual Journal. I was humbled to be the honoree and touched by the many kind words that were written. My family was also much moved and, on their behalf, I would like to express my appreciation as well.
If you have not already done so... please mark your calendars for Sunday, December 7th at 3:00 pm, when I will present my 10th Anniversary Concert for Temple Israel! Looking back over the years from my first Broadway to Bimah concert to our congregations 80th Anniversary Concert to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to When You Believe (our concert with the Gay Mens Chorus of the Palm Beaches), to our fully-staged production of Fiddler on the Roof to A Night at the Opera....we have shared so many wonderful musical and theatrical moments together.
For this years concert, I will be taking the best selections from previous years and weaving them into an unforgettable afternoon of Broadway, Pop, Opera and Cantorial Music. Since the concert is only a couple of weeks before the start of Hanukkah, we will also get ourselves ready for the Festival of Lights with some great holiday music with the help of the Temple Israel Choir and the children of our congregation. It will be a wonderful celebration, and I hope that you will be part of it.
Also....please dont forget to show your support for Rabbi Chapin by attending a special Shabbat service on Friday, November 7th when he will be officially consecrated as Temple Israels spiritual leader. It also promises to be a beautiful evening.
