Temple Israel Library Philosophy and History

Temple Israel Library has been a Jewish resource center since its inception in 1952. Developing from a single book to its present collection of 7,000 volumes, the Temple Israel Library is dedicated to serving the entire community - both Jewish and non-Jewish - both adults and children.

It is a free "public" library for those interested in classical Jewish writings and modern best sellers.

Adult Collection

The extensive collection of adult books, all of Judaic interest, includes: Fiction, Poetry, Drama, History, Music, Art and biographies of hundreds of well-known Jewish men and women.

Our sociology section covers the rites and ceremonies of Jewish family life, intermarriage, anti-semitism, women's role in Judaism, as well as guidance for raising your Jewish child.

Children's Collection

Beautifully illustrated picture books for very young children, holiday stories and Jewish heroes are just a part of the children's collection. Our "children's corner" is a place where the young are invited to come and be introduced to the traditional Jewish values of the love of learning and the world of books.
